The challenge: Clean air in climbing and bouldering gyms

A firm, secure grip is very important when climbing and bouldering – dry hands a must. To achieve this good grip feeling, climbers continuously use magnesia powder (“chalk”). Measured total particle concentrations (PM1, PM2.5, and PM10) in ambient air rise to 2,000 micrograms/m and more at peak times (about 50% of which are respirable particles). These values correspond to industrial plants exposed to dust.

Magnesia powder not only increases the concentration of particulate matter in indoor air, but also binds water – which can lead to increased dry mouth and eye irritation.

Not ideal conditions for indoor climbing and for employees who spend all day in the hall.

Due to the polluting magnesia powder, the challenge for climbing and bouldering gyms is usually to improve the indoor air and protect the health of employees at low energy and cost.

The solution: the Fresh Air Manager from actoVent

With the Fresh Air Manager, three simple steps to permanently good air quality:

  1. Measurement of the current air quality and fine dust pollution
  2. If required, optimization of existing ventilation or installation of mobile ventilation unit.
  3. Automation and visualization of air quality

With our partner Airthings for Business, we can measure your air quality quickly and without costly installations. Fine dust (PM1, PM2.5), CO2, temperature or humidity – the sensors can be mounted directly on or next to the climbing wall without wiring. The data is sent directly to the Fresh Air Manager via the supplied hub.

In a second step, the Fresh Air Manager helps them to find the right solution for their climbing hall and to optimize the air quality. From manual ventilation plans (opening windows) to professional ventilation systems – our network of service providers and maintenance companies enables us to provide vendor-neutral advice.

Finally, the Fresh Air Manager ensures the automatic procurement of replacement products (maintenance, filters, etc.).

We offer them the solution for clean air!
